Annual Speech & Prize Day - 2016
Silver baubles with blue tassels hanging from the ceiling, bright lights, flowers and beaming proud parents and students set the stage for the
Annual High School Speech and Prize Distribution Day, July 9th 2016.
At five pm on the dot, the chief guest Dr.Ajit Bide, an eminent doctor/actor and most importantly, an Old Boy, was escorted to the venue by Rector, Rev Fr Anthony Joseph ,SJ, Principal of SJBHS, Rev Fr Clifford Sequira, SJ, Primary Administrator, Rev Fr Robert Rodriguez, SJ, Vice Principal of SJBHS, Mrs. Miriam Angelo, Vice President of the OBA, Mr. Franklin and the Secretary of the PTA, Mrs. Reena Pereira.
The evening's program started with Father Principal's speech and a video showcasing the school's academic report of the previous year, enumerating various feats achieved by the school in a number of areas.
Education and entertainment are intrinsic in a school and the program to follow only highlighted that.
The very first performance of the evening was an electrifying dance number by the high school students. Their sleek choreography added instant pizzazz to the ceremony.
The next dance was by the ISC girls, looking resplendent in blue and gold and their gracious style was a perfect foil to the preceding high energy new-age item by the boys!
The ISC choir took over next with their rendition of 'Can you feel the love tonight’ from the, movie Lion King. The words of the song could not have been more apt as truly the emotions of love, warmth and joy were riding high in every heart present that night. The high school choir sang 'Love hope and faith', a foot tapping number that put a smile on every face.
Chief Guest Dr. Ajit Bide's inspiring speech advised the young Josephites of the digitised generation not to lose the human connection; to look at adversities not as impediments as they play a big role in making one resilient.
Dr. Bide was followed by Rector Rev Fr Anthony Joseph who congratulated the young achievers for helping the school scale newer heights and thanked the school staff for their tireless services. Rector described the students as a ‘Fire that would light many other lives’ and diligently care for the ‘last, least and the lost’.
The Prize distribution was conducted amidst thunderous applause from all the near and dear ones of the prize winning students. The evening came to an end with the Vote of Thanks and the National Anthem.
