Cricket Academy

SJBHS week end Cricket Academy was started in the year 2003-2004. The practices are held at the M.G. Road cricket grounds. Every year about 125 students from Std. III to X are part of the academy. Talented students from this academy represent the school cricket team.

The school has two teams viz., juniors and Seniors. There is also a Sub-juniors team as a stand-by.

The junior cricket team is represented by the students of Std. 7 and 8, whereas the senior team is represented by Std. 9 and 10.

The school cricket season begins with the Cottonian Shield conducted by Bishop Cotton Boys’ School. This year the junior team (under 14) played 6 matches in all and qualified for the finals. They were Runners-up in the tournament. The star player Devdutt B.P. was adjudged player of the tournament.

The senior team also played well and qualified for the semi-finals in the Cottonian Shield.

In the K.S.C.A Cup under-16 tournament, conducted by K.S.C.A., the senior team did well and qualified for the quarter finals. It is a matter of great pride and honour that three of the boys, viz., Devdutt B.P., Md. Shazaan and Adithyan Kumaran were selected to represent the Karnataka State Cricket team to play in the All India State Tournament.

In the BTR tournament (under 14), our junior team did well. They played 6 matches to qualify for the semifinals. Here again, four of the students were selected to represent the Zonal Teams in Karnataka. They are Sanil Navar, Abhay M N, Chinmay NA and Md. Shahid S.
