Go Green Peace March

St. Joseph’s Boys’ High School, Museum Road, Bangalore successfully conducted a Go Green Marchon 15th December, 2016. Over one thousand five hundred students along with staff and parents participated in this march to showcase the efforts and initiatives of the institution towards their Social Responsibility to reduce its carbon footprint such as using LED and solar powered lights, segregating waste with separate bins, doing away with printed circulars to parents and so on.

The event started with the school assembly presided by dignitaries who also addressed and cheered the students and flagged off the march at 9.15am.

The dignitaries who graced the occasion were - Smt. G. Padmavati Worshipful Mayor, Bhruhat Bengaluru MahanagaraPalike,The Corporator – Shantala Nagar - Mr. MB DwarakanathSri. N. Manjunath Prasad, IAS Commissioner BBMP, Dr. K. C. Yatish Kumar - Joint Commissioner BBMP, Mr. Sarfarz Khan - Joint Commissioner (Health & SWM) andMr. Sampath Kumar - Corporator DJ Halli.

The Worshipful Mayor spoke on how Bangalore has changed over the years and has moved from being a Garden City &a Pensioners Paradise to a busy and not so eco-friendly city. She also encouraged and appreciated the initiative taken up by SJBHS towards this cause.

The Corporatoralso addressed the gathering and spoke on the rich heritage of 158 years of the school and appreciated the initiatives of the institution towards the cause of the environment.

The rally peacefully and convincingly conveyed the messages and created awareness in Bangalore through the Boys and the Teachers of the school and thus was a grand success.

The principal in his message said "St Joseph’s Boys’ High School is committed to restoring our common home with love and respect for the physical world around us. We hope our students will begin to think of themselves as part of a larger planet, and one that they can help to save for they are the ones who will inherit the Earth. The school is making an effort as an institution to address the issues. We know this is but a drop in the ocean, but we hope to add more initiatives in the coming years. Most importantly, we hope our students will see this as their mission and carry the message forward. "
