This year, St Joseph's Boys' High School had the privilege of welcoming Rev Fr Joseph Royan as Chief Guest and Speaker for the evening. The meeting convened with the arrival of the Chief Guest, Principal Rev Fr Clifford Sequeira SJ, Vice Principal Mrs Miriam Angelo and Rev Fr Robert Rodrigues SJ, Administrator of Primary school.

In keeping with tradition, the program began with the lighting of the lamp, and an invocation song by the teachers, soulfully and movingly rendered. This was followed by the reading of the notice convening the meeting and the adoption of the annual report by Mrs Reena Pereira, Secretary of the PTA.

The annual report summarised the activities of a rich and activity laden academic year 2016-2017, none of which would have been possible without the active participation of the PTA. Picnics, outreach programs, Teachers' and Children's Day events, Phenomenon and St Joseph's Go Green initiative were a culmination of the collaborative efforts of SJBHS and the PTA.

Father Principal extended a warm welcome to the gathering and introduced the Chief Guest to the audience. Rev Father Joseph Royan spoke animatedly about the importance of compassionate, involved parenting. Using anecdotes and stories, he urged parents to make time for their children, appreciate them and love them. Father Royan left both teachers and parents with a timely message: the best gift we can give our children is the gift of our presence. Mr Bernard Chetty delivered the Vote of Thanks, concluding the events of the evening.
