Senior School Sports Day

6th of September saw the Blue & White school flag being unfurled during the 156th Annual Athletic Meet. The day began with the entire school in a buzz of excitement and optimism with volunteers, band members and athletes hurrying about, giving the final finishing touches to the humble SJBHS playground which bore the look of festivity!

The customary opening march past began with the proud athletes of each house, along with the equally proud NCC cadets and Scouts marching to the beat of the School Band. The meet was declared open by the Guest of Honour, Mr. Hakimuddin, An Olympian swimmer and Old Boy of the school.

Inter-house Relays, Shot Putt, Long Jump and Tug-o-War all went by in what was a flash, with all the competing athletes fully focused on getting the better of their house-mates.

The School united in one huge gathering, as the day’s Inter-House events came to an end to make way for the Inter-School relays. The students cheered in one voice at the far end of the field. St. Joseph’s Boys’ High School secured the First place in the Senior Category of the Inter-school 4x100m Relay, much to the delight of the spectators. Although succumbing to 2ndplace both in the Junior and ISC categories, with Bishop Cotton’s securing the first place in both, the teams received unconditional support from the spectators, in the true “Josephite Spirit” ….... adhering to the motto ‘Faith’ and ‘Toil’!!
